Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest lay Catholic family service organization. As their forebears did more than a century ago, today's Knights and their families stand shoulder to shoulder in support of one another. Through their charity and the examples of their lives, they stand in service to all as witnesses to the Good News of the Gospel. Founded by Father Michael J. McGivney, curate at St. Mary's Parish in New Haven, Connecticut, the Knights of Columbus was chartered on March 29, 1882, in the State of Connecticut. As Father McGivney explained to a small group of men at a meeting in the basement of St. Mary's Church in October 1881, his purpose in calling them together was manifold: to help Catholic men remain steadfast in their faith through mutual encouragement, to promote closer ties of fraternity among them; and to set up an elementary system of insurance so that the widows and children of members in the group who might die would not find themselves in dire financial straits. From such promising beginnings Father McGivney's original group has blossomed into an international society of over 1.7 million Catholic men in nearly 14,000 councils who have dedicated themselves to the ideals of Columbianism: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. Today members of the Order are found in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Panama, Poland, Cuba, Guam, the Virgin Islands, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. They belong to many races and speak many different languages. They are diverse, yet they are one. Their diversity spells creativity; their unity spells strength. Catholic men, 18 years or older are encouraged to join our Council, if interested in joining please contact Grand Knight Garry Lacey at or Father Kris. The Knights of Columbus Council #7581 meet on the 4th Monday of the month at 7:00 PM. Our council is made up of men from two different churches, St Edward The Confessor Parish and Our Lady of Victories Parish. The meetings are held at St. Edward The Confessor Parish in Milford, NJ on the even numbered months and Our Lady of Victories Parish in Baptistown, NJ on odd numbered months. The Knights of Columbus #7581 would like to say THANK YOU, to ALL the Rosarions who helped us with ALL those GREAT dishes that you provided for our 2nd "Our Christmas Traditions" dinner at St. Edwards Parish Center. We would also like to say THANK YOU to ALL the Parishioners who came out and took part in our dinner, without you this would not have been the success it was. It was hard to count ALL of you but, we think we had around 140 people there. We hope you enjoyed yourselves, had plenty to eat, and got to share some good conversations with each other. Thank you again, MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! This weekend will be the last time this year you can get your "Keep Christ in Christmas" items like, our NEW LAWN SIGNS, Tree Ornaments & Car Magnets after each Mass.
